Born in Cincinnati, Ohio to a family of physicians, Avnish has always felt a strong urge to help those around him. His father is an ENT surgeon and his mother is a primary care physician at the VA Medical Center. Avnish has two younger siblings, both are currently in medical school as well. His parents always emphasized the importance of community service, a significant influence in Avnish's decision to practice law.
