Professional Affiliations

A Fellow in the prestigious Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Chuck Dick formerly was a Partner in the global law firm, Baker & McKenzie, and he served as Chair of that firm's North American Litigation Practice Group. Mr. Dick's distinguished record has been recognized with his election to Fellowship in the American College of Trial Lawyers (for which he has served as Southern California State Chair and as a member of the College's Board of Regents; he is the President of the College's Foundation). Mr. Dick has been elected to membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates (for which he has served as President of the San Diego Chapter).

Mr. Dick served as General Counsel to the San Diego County Bar Association on a pro bono basis for more than 20 years, and he formerly served as a Director of the San Diego County Bar Foundation. A Senior Master in the American Inns of Court program, Mr. Dick formerly served as National Trustee for the American Inns of Court Foundation. He is a Founding Director and an active member in the Association of Business Trial Lawyers in San Diego, and he served as a member of the Iowa Law School Foundation Board of Directors. In 2003, Mr. Dick received the San Diego trial bar's highest award for professionalism--The Daniel T. Broderick III Award. In 2009, he received the San Diego County Bar Association's Service Award, and in 2016, Mr. Dick was honored as "Attorney of the Year" by the Association.
Publications, Presentations & Articles

Mr. Dick is one of a select group chosen by the American Bar Association's Section of Litigation to author a chapter in the acclaimed treatise, "Business and Commercial Litigation in Federal Courts." His pragmatic chapter on trial practice issues was published in the first three editions of the treatise. Mr. Dick regularly presents at symposia and writes about professional responsibility matters and alternative dispute resolution.
Education & Bar Admittance

Mr. Dick was admitted to the bar in Iowa and Illinois in 1967 and the U.S. Supreme Court and California bars in 1977. Mr. Dick obtained his law degree from the University of Iowa's College of Law, where he served as the Managing Editor for the Iowa Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. Mr. Dick received his undergraduate degree in political science and religion with honors from the University of Iowa, where he was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa.
Pro Bono & Community Involvement

Active in community affairs, Mr. Dick has served as the Board Chair for LEAD San Diego, Inc., a community leadership development program; he is active in the service work of Rotary International and is Chancellor Emeritus for the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego. He served a four year term as a Commissioner on the City of San Diego Ethics Commission. Mr. Dick is retired as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the U.S. Naval Reserve. In 2018, he was recognized by Casa Cornelia Law Center as the Pro Bono Attorney of the Year.
