Sherman & Sherman, Inc. was founded in July 1989 by Counselor H. Varney G. Sherman, who conceived the idea when he was still a junior partner at Maxwell & Maxwell, then the largest and most prestigious law firm in Liberia in terms of the number of corporate clients on a multi-year retainer. Counselor Sherman joined Maxwell & Maxwell in 1980, became its first junior partner in 1986, took over the management of that firm in 1987, and left in 1989 to launch Sherman & Sherman, Inc.
Sherman & Sherman's offices are in the R. Fole Sherman Law Building, which is located at the intersection of 17th Street and Chesseman Avenue, Sinkor, Monrovia, Liberia. It is two blocks away from the main Tubman Boulevard, which runs through Sinkor and Congotown.
