I used to practice intellectual property (patent and trademark) law exclusively. I have drafted and prosecuted patent applications in the computer and electrical arts; I have handled patent and trademark litigation matters; and, I have experience with intellectual property due diligence and portfolio management.
I occasionally work on patents and trademarks but have been taking primarily family law clients because I enjoy being in court and helping my clients personally. The best that I can explain it is that it makes me feel "important" and "valuable" when a client reaches out to me in a moment of crisis and I am able to help them through it. As ugly and depressing family law can be, that part -- the part about helping people and giving them hope -- makes me feel really good about myself and my work.
