Judge Jimmy Sandlin served as a Family Court Judge in Lauderdale County until 2011. He presided over 18,000 cases while on the bench. During his service Judge Sandlin was astounded by the number of grandparents who are now raising their grandchildren. This often happens when the birth mother or father are either mentally ill or addicted to drugs or alcohol.
