Upon receiving his J.D. from the University of San Francisco in 1988, Dan began his legal career at Owen Wickersham & Erickson as a copyright and trademark attorney. An entrepreneur at heart, Dan left the firm in 1990 to start his own practice and never looked back. Dan has successfully represented hundreds of clients in intellectual property litigation and transactions. One notable case that Dan helmed was the filing of a copyright infringement class action case on behalf of freelance authors against a Knight-Ridder subsidiary for selling thousands of authors' articles without their permission. After several years of hard-fought litigation and multiple favorable rulings, Dan negotiated a multi-million dollar settlement that resulted in significant payments to hundreds of infringed authors. Dan headshot.jpg In addition to his litigation experience, Dan has negotiated intellectual property transactions involving the sale, licensing, and acquisition of major entertainment properties, including highly valuable exclusive rights from such artists as The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Guns & Roses, The Police, Sting, Taylor Swift, and U2. Since relocating his family and office to St. Helena in 2008, Dan shifted his practice from high-profile entertainment brands to wine brands.
