Our Origins
Ari?o y , Abogados was founded in 1972 by Gaspar Ari?o Ortiz, along with other academics and practising lawyers, creating a law firm that combined practical legal skills and rigorous academic standards.
Specialist knowledge and experience are at the heart of the firm's professional practice. Many of its members are university lecturers and some have had experience in government and as in-house advisers in companies and public authorities. Continuing professional development, research, teaching and the publication of studies are core activities of the firm's members which equip them to practice law in sectors experiencing major changes in terms of legal regulation.
Our Development
Since Ari?o y was set up other lawyers with very strong reputations in their own fields have joined the firm: professors, public prosecutors and highly trained professionals. From its inception the firm has advised numerous public authorities and a growing number of Spanish and foreign individuals, businesses and institutions in very diverse areas. Traditionally the firm has been noted for its work in the regulated sectors of the economy, such as water, electricity, gas, petroleum, telecommunications and audiovisual media, transport, public procurement, healthcare or planning.
Our Growth
In the last fifteen years the firm has expanded horizontally, with lawyers specialising in civil and commercial law and litigation joining the practice, meaning that it is now able to provide top-quality legal services in these areas too.
All of this, when added to the experience acquired over thirty years of professional practice, means that the firm has a significant capacity for legal preparation, which is fully incorporated into the comprehensive advice offered by the firm.
During these years Ari?o y has grown to its current team of 30 professionals working in its Madrid office.
