About Rider Weiner & Frankel

Meyer J. Rider, the firm's patriarch, commenced his practice of law in Newburgh in 1932 on Second Street, which was then Newburgh's lawyers quarter. In the mid-forties Elliott M. Weiner joined him as an associate after leaving the US Attorney's office, and they practiced together into the early fifties when Elliott left to form his own firm. The practice, though general, emphasized corporate and real estate development law. After his service in the U.S. Army, David L. Rider joined his father in 1966 at their then Grand Street, Newburgh location and the practice continued to focus on the representation of local businesses, both manufacturing and retail.

In 1970, following Meyer Rider's death, David and Elliott reunited to form Rider, Weiner & Loeb. The firm continued to grow, and in 1972, moved to the present location at 655 Little Britain Road. The concentration on the representation of businesses continued, including local, regional and national banks and financial institutions, medical professionals, hospitals, unions, and not-for-profit organizations throughout the Mid-Hudson valley.

The beginning of the firm as it is now organized, occurred in 1984 when a number of former partners left, and David Rider and Elliott Weiner formed the present firm, then named Rider, Weiner, Lewis & Melchiori. Since then, the name has changed a few times to the current Rider, Weiner & Frankel, P.C., and now has six partners, a total of twelve attorneys, five paralegals, and a total staff of more than twenty people.

Over the past twenty years the firm has developed substantial expertise in municipal law representing the largest municipality in Orange County, and has attorneys who focus on corporate and commercial transactions, land development and transactions, medical services and delivery, environmental law, estate planning and administration, litigation in State and Federal Courts, and before governmental agencies. Having deep roots in the Mid Hudson region is an invaluable asset to our clients, who benefit from our knowledge of the landscape, business people, professionals, and government.
