Our attorneys have been elected as Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers and included in the published listing of The Best Lawyers in America as well as having received listings in Massachusetts Super Lawyers magazine, being recognized for their work in healthcare defense, medical malpractice defense, professional liability defense and general civil litigation. Our History Martin, Magnuson, McCarthy & Kenney is the successor firm to Martin, Magnuson & Hennessey, established in 1957 by Ephraim Martin, Harold E. Magnuson and Edward F. Hennessey. In 1967, Edward F. Hennessey left the firm to accept a judicial appointment. At that time, Clement McCarthy and Raymond J. Kenney Jr. joined in partnership, while Ephraim Martin and Harold E. Magnuson remained associated with the firm as sole practitioners. In 1981, Clement McCarthy, Raymond J. Kenney Jr. and Charles P. Reidy III established McCarthy, Kenney & Reidy, P.C. The professional corporation continued its association with Ephraim Martin and Harold E. Magnuson, practicing under the style of Martin, Magnuson, McCarthy & Kenney. Clement McCarthy passed away in May of 1985, Ephraim Martin in September of 1988, and Harold E. Magnuson in June of 1999. After serving for 22 years as a member of the Massachusetts judiciary, as chief justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, Edward F. Hennessey returned to the firm he helped found in an "of counsel" capacity until the spring of 2005. Chief Justice Hennessey passed away in 2007. All of our attorneys are dedicated to providing exceptional legal representation for our clients.
