The idea of ESL was conceived in 1988 by two partners, who at the time, were unqualified paralegals. They recognised a void in the provision of legal services in the South West, namely a lack of fully qualified ethnic lawyers. More importantly, they identified a total absence of practices run by members of the ethnic community. This is very important since the ethnic community represents a disproportionately large percentage of persons passing through the legal systems given their proportion of the general population. Eleven years on the void still remained despite the growth of the ethnic community. Elite Solicitors Ltd opened on the 1st September 1999. The practice specialises in the provision of excellent criminal defence and Immigration advice and representation.
