Sintia Solis was born in Veracruz, Mexico, soon after she was born her parents moved to Tamaulipas, Mexico, where the family built a home and settled down. A few years after she was born, Sintia's father realized that coming to the United States to work would be necessary to provide for his wife and daughter. He traveled back and forth from Mexico to the United States for work and his family soon grew by one more baby boy. Under the Immigration Act of 1990, Sintia's parents decided to take the opportunity to permanently immigrate to the United States as a family. They were full of fears not knowing how they would make it in a foreign country. Especially because they did not know the language or culture, yet they were hopeful and looking forward to the "American dream'" of a better life for them and their children. Once in the United States the family lived in a tiny one bedroom apartment in a very low income area of Pasadena. Sintia soon started kindergarten and did not know a speck of English, she was in English as a Second Language classes for some years until she learned to speak, read and write English.
