Electronic surveillance is accomplished not just with wiretaps, but with all manner of digital processes, including pen register information from cell and landline telephone companies, that show everyone you called and everyone who called you, when and for how long; closed circuit TVs mounted on utility poles to catch video and audio of unsuspecting suspects; GPS trackers placed under cars for "sight-unseen" surveillance of moving targets; etc.
