Bredhoff & Kaiser, PLLC is a thirty-plus lawyer Washington, D.C. firm, over sixty years old, with a national practice, specializing in labor and employment law, employee benefits and tax law, complex civil litigation, the representation of non-profit organizations (including but not limited to labor unions, pension and health funds, and membership organizations) on a broad range of institutional issues, internal and government investigations, and the representation of individuals in both civil and criminal matters. A focus of our practice is the representation of labor organizations and related institutions in the public and private sectors. With the firm?s broad representation of labor federations, international unions, and local unions, most often as litigation counsel, we have been characterized as ?the voice of labor,? and members of the firm regularly appear on lists of the best labor and employment lawyers in the country. In addition, the firm?s regular clientele comprises a diverse mix of other non-profit organizations, employee benefit funds, political figures, lawyers and law firms, and an array of individuals. The firm?s litigation runs the gamut of substantive areas: RICO and antitrust defense, civil rights class actions, constitutional issues, election and campaign finance issues, grand jury and congressional investigations, white collar criminal defense, LMRDA issues, internal investigations for private institutions, interest arbitrations, inspector general investigations, government agency rulemaking proceedings, bar disciplinary proceedings, tort and contract cases, bankruptcy proceedings, collective bargaining, and labor grievances and arbitrations. The matters that the firm handles arise in a wide spectrum of industries, including manufacturing, education, service industries, construction, music, sports, air and rail transportation, public agencies ? e.g., schools, police, fire, postal ? and many others. The firm regularly appears in federal and state courts across the country and has long had an active Supreme Court and appellate practice. The firm is unique in combining the resources normally associated with a much larger firm with the collegiality and efficiency of a smaller firm. Our highly experienced attorneys ? sixteen of whom have been in practice for twenty years or more, and another eight of whom have at least ten years of experience ? work in tandem with more recent law school graduates of exceptional ability and commitment. Our clients and our attorneys both benefit from the firm?s non-hierarchical approach to practice. We staff matters leanly. New associate attorneys are not shunted aside simply to write memoranda, but work as active members of a team, participating directly in the firm?s representation of clients. The firm provides new associate attorneys substantial supervision as well as a continuing in-house training program. Our attorneys have access to the resources and support they need to provide top-flight representation, including highly trained paralegals and state-of-the-art computerized litigation tools.
