The law firm of Beier, Beier & Beier began as a sole proprietorship in 1974 after principal, Bart M. Beier's graduation from the LLM program at Harvard Law School. Bart's previous experience included a year clerkship on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court under Justice Michael Eagen, (1973), and his matriculation from Duquesne Law School (1972) and Lehigh University (1969). Bart's first office was in the Colonial Building on Ross Street and Court Place in Downtown Pittsburgh. Bart practiced with various associates over the years until 1994. That year the law firm added a new attorney, Mary R. Beier, Bart's wife of over 30 years. Mary graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law (1994) and Chatham College (1991). The firm again expanded in 2001, again adding an attorney with a familiar surname. Maximilian F. Beier, the eldest child of Bart and Mary, joined the firm as an associate after working on the Pennsylvania Superior Court for over two years as a clerk for Judge John P. Hester. Following in his parents' footsteps, Max graduated from Lehigh University in 1996 and from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1999.
