Winston & Strawn is a law firm based in Chicago that offers competitive pay for IT work in the area. The management team is understanding and treats employees fairly, with staff having access to discounts on an in-building gym, free coffee, free pop from a coke machine, and affordable, quality meals prepared by in-house chefs. Those who have worked at the firm have spoken positively of the interesting and complex work as well as their colleagues.At the same time, the firm has some drawbacks that potential employees should consider. Retirement benefits do not begin until after the first week of employment, and the hybrid/WfH policy is vague. Furthermore, the firm has a 2000 billable hour bonus requirement, and the centralized support staff can make work feel impersonal. Additionally, Winston & Strawn lacks the desire to retain talent and promote from within, so there are not many other Legal Support Assistants. Despite these drawbacks, employees have generally spoken positively about the firm, with some noting that the long hours and hard work pay off and that there is nothing bad about the company.
