Fish, 321 Or 48, 893 P2d 1023 (1995) where he convinced the Oregon Supreme Court that the Oregon Constitution forbids admission of evidence of a drunk driving suspect's refusal to perform field sobriety tests.

John Henry is an Oregon lawyer. He started practice in 1971 in Oregon City, the first capital of The Oregon Territory. He served as President of the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association for two years, 1982 -1984 .

John Henry is a published author. In the 1980's a New York publishing company asked him to write a book on drunk driving defense. He accepted the offer and wrote How to Defend a Drunk Driving Case. Published by Clark-Boardman Co., the book went through 5 editions before the company was bought by another company that discontinued publication due to already having a similar book in print. (Don't bother trying to find a copy ? they are as rare as a wild Chinook salmon caught on a dry fly!)

John Henry is a nationally sought after speaker. He has lectured before lawyers throughout the United State, Mexico and Canada. At last count, he has delivered in excess of 100 presentations. He has been described as the nation's leading expert on the use of state constitutions in the defense of citizens accused of crime.

In 1998 John Henry and a group of his colleagues founded the National College For Drunk Driving Defense. He taught at its first four day program at Harvard University Law School in 1998.
