Our History

The Firm takes great pride in its rich history in the Greater Rochester area. The Firm was originally founded in 1916 by Eugene Dwyer and Arthur E. Sutherland, Sr. and was known as Sutherland & Dwyer. After several name changes, the Firm became known as Osborn, Reed & Burke, LLP, in 1998, and, thereafter, relocated to the historic Time Square Building, beneath the iconic Wings of Progress.
Our Credibility

Former Partners of the Firm have included Arthur E. Sutherland, Jr., who served as a Secretary to Oliver Wendell Holmes and ultimately became a Professor of Law at Cornell University and Harvard University;

Carroll Roberts, who was elected to the Monroe County Supreme Court Bench; Samuel B. Dicker, who was Rochester's Mayor for seventeen years; Stephen V. Lines, who achieved regional prominence as a trial lawyer;

Frederick J. Wilkens, who was the Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Rochester; and John C. Osborn, who served as counsel for the Village of Pittsford for decades. In 2013, Jeffrey M. Wilkens, and in 2014 Thomas C. Burke, renowned trial attorneys in the community, retired from the Firm after more than four decades of practice.
