Spangenberg Shibley & Liber LLP's Story Begins in 1946

In 1946, the firm now known as Spangenberg Shibley & Liber LLP was founded by Craig Spangenberg, one of the nation's premier trial lawyers. He was dedicated to the practice of law, and worked tirelessly to create a level legal playing field for plaintiffs' attorneys and injured parties. He saw that the legal system was unfairly skewed in favor of defendants ? typically large corporations ? and helped to bring balance to the system during his time. The firm gained national recognition when Mr. Spangenberg stepped forward to represent Canadian children injured by the birth-defect-causing morning sickness medication Thalidomide. He was appointed Canadian Queen's Counsel by Queen Elizabeth II as a result of this work.

Mr. Spangenberg was among the group of lawyers who founded what is today known as the American Association for Justice.
