Gelfand and Arpe, primarily represents Florida condominium associations, homeowners' associations and cooperative associations in the practice of community association law. Our practice encompasses areas such as corporate governance, meeting requirements, statutory interpretation and compliance, vendor and contracts, covenant enforcement, document amendments, rule and restriction enforcement, corporate issues, document preparation and government relationships.

We also assist individuals owning property in Florida community associations defining and understanding their rights and responsibilities.

We encourage parties to settle disputes amicably, and provide creative solutions; but will aggressively protect client rights when litigation is appropriate.

Gelfand and Arpe, has been representing Florida community associations since 1991 serving Palm Beach County and the greater South Florida area. As a small firm, we can offer our clients direct personal relationships and efficient responses. With almost 25 years' experience, in representing Florida community associations, our attorneys are considered experts in this field. Our senior partner, Michael Gelfand is recognized as one of foremost experts in the field of community association law in Florida.

Our monthly Memorandum to Clients contains practical information regarding recent judicial decisions and new legislation which assists clients in the ever shifting regulatory environment pertaining to Florida homeowner, condominium and cooperative associations. The firm actively contributes to numerous professional publications. We regularly are asked to speak to legal and association affiliated organizations. We also participate in community volunteer work.

Mr. Gelfand, a Florida Bar Board Certified Real Estate Lawyer, has been recognized nationally as a member of the College of Community Association Lawyers, and as a Fellow of the renowned American College of Real Estate Lawyers, serving as Chair of ACREL's Common Interest Ownership Committee.

Michael Gelfand believes in personal community involvement and encourages others to become involved in their communities. He is a recipient of the Palm Beach County Pro Bono Child Advocate of the Year Award. His public school volunteer efforts include serving as the real estate/construction appointee on the Palm Beach County School District's Construction Oversight and Review Committee, and as a magistrate for the District's Law Magnet Program. He has also served as chair and as a director of the Youth Orchestra of Palm Beach County, Florida.

Ms. Arpe has been involved in community activities for many years. She has been on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the United Way of Palm Beach County, and is the chair of the United Way's Impact Area on Seniors. She has served as President and Vice President for the Nelle Smith Residence For Girls, Inc. She is on the Palm Beach County Literacy Coalition Board of Directors, where she serves on the personnel committee. She and Mr. Gelfand were awarded the 1996 Children's Advocacy Award given by the Legal Society of Palm Beach County, Inc. and the Palm Beach County Bar Association. In 1999, Ms. Arpe was a nominee for the Wachovia/Jr. League Woman Volunteer of the Year award.
