Tauil & Chequer Advogados and Mayer Brown announced the addition of Michel Sancovski to the Sao Paulo office. He is joining as a partner in their Global Anti-Corruption & FCPA Practice. Sancovski, with a team of four lawyers, join from Trench, Rossi and Watanabe Advogados.

Managing partner Alexandre Chequer of Tauil & Chequer Advogados said, “We are investing in a vital area that requires technical expertise and experience in a market that still lacks qualified professionals with seniority. Our Compliance practice is currently led by Brazil’s former attorney general, Luis Adams, and the arrival of these highly qualified and experienced professionals is part of our strategy to strengthen practice areas within a full-service structure.”

His experience includes in corporate and anti-corruption compliance cases with consideration of local and foreign laws, coordinating large-scale and complex corporate investigations, the development, review, and implementation of compliance programs, and conducting anti-corruption due diligence in third parties and mergers and acquisitions.

He also has extensive experience working with Brazilian and U.S. authorities, including with negotiations of leniency agreements. Sancovski is a visiting professor at numerous universities and often provides seminars on compliance training courses and in-house compliance training.

Sancovski co-led and coordinated one of the largest internal investigations in the world. He said, “I am pleased and honored to be part of such a renowned firm as Tauil & Chequer and to act alongside Luis Adams. My experience in the area of compliance, which complements Mr. Adam’s 24 years of public service, is a competitive advantage that will greatly enhance our client service. I was also attracted to the firm’s impressive global platform, with resources in 25 offices around the world.”
