San Francisco office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks cybersecurity and data privacy practice attorney with experience. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the needs of the core Cybersecurity and Data Privacy team in a variety of ways including: conducting research, drafting work product for clients, drafting and maintaining precedent documents, maintaining a general awareness of cybersecurity and data privacy developments, monitoring media, attending events, identifying and tracking potential clients, and providing general support. Will be asked to obtain certain privacy training certifications within six months of accepting the position. Expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firms clients, attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. Fulfill the needs of the firm in a manner which is consistent with the firm's Core Values. Conduct research including, on legal, legislative, and industry developments relevant to the practice. Draft responses to client and attorney inquiries, including memoranda as needed. Prepare timely, thoughtful and well-written responses that require minimal revisions. Advise and counsel clients on privacy and cybersecurity matters, such as compliance requirements and opportunities for improvement of privacy policies and procedures, drafting privacy policies, assisting client with implementation of internal policies and governance, internal investigations to assess corporate privacy compliance, data breach preparedness and response. Monitor daily practice- and industry-specific media outlets and update the team on developments of interest through regular and consistent written updates. Monitor governmental policy developments relevant to the practice at both the federal (e.g., congressional committee hearings, White House briefings, policy changes at practice-relevant departments and agencies) and state level. At the state level, the focus will be on California. Prepare summaries of key issues relevant to clients and provide to team. Develop and maintain key industry and related academic relationships as needed to assist the team in outreach, event planning, and client development efforts. Obtain cybersecurity and/or data privacy training certifications within six months of accepting position, if requested by team. Maintain the same, if requested by team. Assist with client development projects for the team, including by conducting research and working with the business development team on presentations and proposals. Prepare and maintain spreadsheets and similar materials to help identify potential clients and to track potential and existing clients and related outreach efforts. Draft case management work product as needed, including, case or project budgets, work or project plans, team biographies. Serve as a subject matter authority on privacy and security-related developments, industry activities and emerging trends. Keep abreast of pending litigation, legislation, industry trends, and current events that affect clients and perspective clients. Provide regular updates on the same to the team. Draft memoranda, state-of-play memos, papers, policy briefings and letters for clients. Draft alerts and other information updates to be published online. Draft comprehensive periodic news and legislative summaries updating clients on various issues. Should have proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office including Word and Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Basic knowledge of the federal and state legislative processes preferred. Cybersecurity and data privacy industry certifications (IAPP/US, CIPP/US) preferred. Basic knowledge of HIPAA, CCPA, GDPR and other privacy laws required. Background in the cybersecurity and privacy industry, whether at another law firm, forensic firm, cybersecurity and privacy vendor, or another position in the industry. Must have deep understanding of the industry needed. Knowledge of relevant guidelines and regulations essential. Must be licensed (and in good standing) to practice law in CA.

The candidate should have strong research and writing skills. Must have ability to work independently but also as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative. Flexibility to work non-traditional hours to accommodate colleagues traveling abroad essential. Must have good judgment and a strong sense of responsibility, integrity and loyalty. Should have ability to multi-task and prioritize among competing tasks under pressure and time constraints. Must have commitment to maintaining confidentiality of client and office information and adhering to the firms Core Values. Should have strong work ethic; commitment to the office and firm, your colleagues, professional growth and development. Must have JD degree.
