London office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks an associate attorney with 4+ years of practical experience with data protection and privacy advice, including working in a law firm and/or in-house. The candidate will be advising clients on a range of UK data protection compliance issues and strategies. Will be working directly with Partners and across our global Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group, leading and assuming significant responsibility for projects and interacting directly with clients. Advising clients on a wide range of data privacy issues. Drafting policies and procedures, incident response plans, revising/drafting data processing and data-sharing agreements, and helping companies to carry out data protection impact assessments. Managing global data protection compliance projects and structuring international data transfers; examples include drafting complex intra-group agreements with international data transfer mechanisms. Advising on marketing strategies, including compliance with the PECRs and helping companies to prepare or to deal with personal data breaches in the UK including drafting ICO notifications and communications with affected data subjects. Assisting the corporate practice in carrying out data protection due diligence as part of corporate transactions. Advice clients in regulatory compliance and determine compliance risks and priorities. Liaise with data protection colleagues based in EU countries as well as colleagues in the US and Asia Pacific regions on cross-border compliance and global counseling projects. Supervision of more junior lawyers, coordination with international colleagues and other cooperating outside counsels, with significant opportunity for advancement. Must have a UK Law degree or equivalent. Should be fluent English speaker. Must have Master's / advanced law courses/certifications (EIPA, IAPP, etc.) in data protection and privacy.

The candidate should have excellent written and oral English language skills. Excellent research and organizational skills; strong verbal and written communication abilities needed. Must be a self-starter with the ability to prioritize workload with competing demands, display good judgment and work well under pressure. Must have the ability to independently manage matters, or meaningful segments of large/complex matters, and to facilitate managing projects to completion. Should have the ability to provide commercial advice to clients to enable them to balance commercial and compliance risks.
