A prominent law firm is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney to join its Kansas City office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing litigation matters from pre-suit through resolution. Strong research, drafting, and courtroom skills are essential, with preference given to candidates licensed in Missouri and additional states such as Kansas or Illinois.

Duties

  • Manage a caseload involving pre-suit, litigation, and post-suit matters

  • Draft legal pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and related filings

  • Conduct legal and factual research on case-related issues

  • Analyze legal claims and defenses to develop strategic approaches

  • Communicate with clients, legal teams, and firm partners with timely updates

  • Represent clients in court hearings and depositions

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in Missouri

  • Licensure in Kansas, Illinois, or other states is a plus

  • Courtroom experience preferred

  • Strong written and oral communication abilities

  • Ability to manage cases independently and work collaboratively in a team setting

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active and in-good-standing membership with the Missouri State Bar

  • Additional bar memberships in Kansas or Illinois preferred
