Penobscot office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks trusts and estates attorney with experience. The candidate works both independently and closely with supervising attorneys. Drafts legal documents, including Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and Advance Health Care Directives, to meet clients estate planning goals. Communicates with clients in person and by phone, mail, and/or email to provide substantive counsel to clients, secure client engagements, keep matters moving forward in a timely manner and advise clients of the status of matters. Communicates with financial advisors, accountants, and other members of clients professional teams as necessary to assist clients in developing and managing their comprehensive estate plans. Oversees the administration of estates and trusts and advises personal representatives and trustees regarding their duties and responsibilities in the administration process. Communicates with beneficiaries, opposing parties, attorneys, courts, and other third parties as necessary to negotiate and resolve disputed matters. Represents individuals in guardianship and conservatorship and other protective proceedings and manages case progression for contested and uncontested matters. Delegates tasks to appropriate staff members and oversees the completion and accuracy of delegated tasks. Performs legal research and effectively communicates analyses and conclusions in pleadings, internal memoranda, and written correspondence to clients. Sets terms of engagement and fee agreements, monitors financial reports, and communicates with clients and members of the firms accounting team as necessary to ensure timely billing and payment of fees for legal services performed. Participates in the firms marketing activities, which may include public speaking engagements, blogs, social events, and other activities and community engagement. Maintains membership in good standing with the Maine Bar and completes all required. Follows the ethical requirements as set forth by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the state and complies with all requirements of the firms professional liability insurer. Should have knowledge of the law and legal practice in order to perform a substantive legal function in client matters as normally acquired through completion of a Juris Doctor degree. Experience with relevant firm software and case management programs is essential. Must be in Good standing with the Maine Bar (or current eligibility for admission to the Maine Bar).

The candidate should have academic excellence or relevant legal experience. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, to communicate with a diverse group of clients, attorneys, and staff and provide authorized information with ordinary courtesy and tact. Strong analytical and organizational skills and attention to detail are needed. Should have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must have the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. Should have the ability to travel to private and public buildings locally and statewide via private or public conveyance to attend to client needs on legal matters.
