Job Overview: A law firm specializing in intellectual property seeks an experienced Patent Attorney with a robust background in science and law. The ideal candidate will manage patent prosecution and provide clients with strategic legal advice on IP matters.

Job Duties:

  • Conduct patentability searches and provide opinions on patent validity and infringement.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications, particularly in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related disciplines.
  • Manage global patent prosecution and portfolio development.
  • Advise clients on freedom to operate, licensing, and other technology transactions.
  • Conduct intellectual property due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Provide strategic counseling on IP protection and enforcement.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Registered patent attorney with the USPTO.
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of scientific principles relevant to patent law.
  • Exceptional academic credentials.
  • Proven ability to articulate legal strategies and courses of action.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior judgment and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in technology transfer and IP licensing.
  • Familiarity with IP litigation procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related discipline.
  • Registered patent attorney with the USPTO.
