San Francisco office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks employment assistant general counsel with 10+ years of hands-on employment law and risk management experience gained at a leading international law firm or multinational corporation; familiarity with international law firm operations. The candidate will work closely with the OGC team to deliver a wide variety of employment-related legal services to the firms management and its Human Resources department, Attorney Talent department, Practice Group Leaders, Associate Development Partners, and other support team departments throughout the firm involved in firm personnel matters. Will support firm initiatives, as well as advise on a broad range of human resource management issues and employment practices initiatives. Serve as the subject matter expert in all areas of U.S. federal, state (including California), and local employment laws, including Title VII, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, ADEA, WARN and OSHA, among others, to ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. federal, state and local employment practices laws, rules and regulations. Provide training to relevant attorney and support departments regarding changes in laws. Facilitate trainings for legal and administrative teams regarding general employment law issues, provide updates on new or pending laws to responsible legal, and support teams. Coordinate with members of Human Resources to create and deliver management training to newly hired or promoted managers annually and Respectful Workplace training to all offices on a regular basis. Coordinate with OGC members, partners, and support team members in non-U.S. countries where the firm has offices, as well as outside counsel, to provide legal advice regarding all types of employment matters involving both attorneys and support team members. Provide strategic legal counsel and risk management advice regarding legal and support team recruiting, hiring, benefits, compensation, performance management, discipline and separations (voluntary and involuntary), internal investigations, firm employment policy development and compliance, leaves of absence, lawyer qualification, employee relations, discrimination, harassment, workplace privacy, wage and hour compliance, regulatory compliance, general risk management, and, when required, employment dispute management. Manage the Senior Bar and Policy Compliance Advisor; coordinate maintenance of and compliance with the firm policy regarding attorney qualification requirements in U.S. and non-U.S. jurisdictions and administer the firms annual policy acknowledgment process. Manage the defense of employment-related claims made against the firm globally, working with outside counsel as necessary. Engage in or lead various other legal projects and duties as needed. A developed understanding of the firms practices and support team departments and their interconnection. Knowledge of Asia and U.K. employment laws is a plus. Should have an active Bar license in good standing.

The candidate should have strong writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills. Must have a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited institution. Must have both an independent and collaborative work style in a culturally and educationally diverse environment. Should have an ability to handle time-sensitive situations with thoughtful analysis and judgment. Must have the ability to provide legal advice that is informed by business needs. Must have a strong work ethic, proactive approach, and enthusiastic and flexible attitude. Should have a commitment to act with the highest level of confidentiality, personal integrity, ethics, and dedication. Must have an ability to comfortably and effectively multi-task, prioritize and stay focused in a results-driven and dynamic working environment. Should have an ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of personnel, including attorneys and support team members.
