A law firm in Newark, NJ, is actively seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Environmental Litigation Associate Attorney to join its dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of specialized expertise in environmental law, with a focus on regulatory compliance, environmental litigation, and transactional matters. This role requires a thorough understanding of New Jersey's Spill Act, ISRA, New York's Navigation Law, CERCLA, RCRA, and related environmental statutes and regulations. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional academics, superior writing, and research skills, and possess dual NJ/NY Bar admission or the ability to obtain/waive in.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on environmental matters, including regulatory compliance, litigation, and transactional issues.
  • Conduct legal research to stay current on environmental laws, regulations, and precedents.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including access agreements, reimbursement cost-sharing agreements, and purchase and sale agreements.
  • Negotiate on behalf of clients in environmental matters, demonstrating a strong understanding of applicable statutes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop effective legal strategies.

Requirements:

  • 8-10 years of experience in environmental law, with a focus on regulatory compliance, environmental litigation, and transactional matters.
  • In-depth knowledge of New Jersey's Spill Act, ISRA, New York's Navigation Law, CERCLA, RCRA, and related environmental statutes and regulations.
  • Exceptional academic credentials, including a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Stellar writing and research skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality legal documents.
  • Dual admission to the New Jersey and New York Bar, or the ability to obtain/waive-in.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Dual admission to the New Jersey and New York Bar, or the ability to obtain/waive-in.
