Job Title: Senior Attorney

Job Overview:
A well-established law firm, located in San Ramon, CA, is seeking an experienced Senior Attorney to manage a caseload of complex bankruptcy, foreclosure, title, and litigation matters. This role is ideal for an attorney with expertise in creditor representation, particularly in default servicing, bankruptcy, and foreclosure, who is looking to contribute to a dynamic, client-focused legal practice. The Senior Attorney will play a critical role in guiding legal teams, managing cases, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations while working closely with a range of clients, including banks, mortgage servicers, and other creditors.

Duties:

  • Lead and collaborate with a team of attorneys and support staff on bankruptcy and foreclosure processes, including managing local filing requirements, judicial tendencies, and procedural steps.
  • Oversee complex title resolution cases, including quiet title actions and title claims.
  • Offer loan-level recommendations and ensure compliance with Federal Bankruptcy Code, local rules, case law, and policies.
  • Review and analyze various client documents, such as bankruptcy filings, loan documents, proofs of claim, motions, and discovery materials.
  • Draft key legal documents including pleadings, motions, certifications, objections, orders, and memoranda.
  • Represent clients at hearings, settlement conferences, and other required appearances (live, video, and telephonic).
  • Communicate regularly with clients to provide case updates and manage expectations.
  • Respond promptly to communications from opposing counsel, court staff, trustees, mediators, and clients.
  • Escalate issues as necessary and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • An active member in good standing with the California Bar (Texas Bar membership and other State Bar licenses a plus).
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in representing secured creditors or mortgage services, particularly within the bankruptcy or default mortgage industry.
  • Proficient in using BKFS LoanSphere Default, Sagent Tempo, CaseAware (preferred), and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • SharePoint experience is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Bar membership in California is required. Membership in the Texas Bar and additional state licenses are preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal matters clearly and effectively.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage a high caseload efficiently and prioritize work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Expertise in working with diverse legal and non-legal stakeholders, including clients, court staff, and opposing counsel.
