Job Overview

A respected law firm focused on complex litigation and transactional matters related to property, energy, and environmental law is seeking experienced litigators to join the team through lateral hire. This role offers the flexibility of working remotely or from the firm's North Dakota office. The firm has a unique practice dedicated to representing rural landowners, including farmers and ranchers, and is looking for attorneys who are committed to delivering high-level legal work in a collaborative and mission-driven environment.

Location

  • Bismarck, North Dakota

Duties

  • Handle complex litigation matters with a focus on:

    • Property law

    • Energy law

    • Natural resources and environmental law

  • Represent clients in state and federal court proceedings

  • Prepare pleadings, motions, and legal briefs

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda

  • Attend hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings

  • Engage in strategic planning and case development

  • Communicate with clients and maintain ongoing relationships

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience

  • Preferred experience in property, energy, or environmental/natural resources law

  • Strong courtroom and/or trial experience is a plus

  • Candidates with exceptional legal writing and organizational skills are encouraged to apply

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • Eligibility for admission in North Dakota preferred

Skills

  • Excellent legal research and analytical abilities

  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills

  • Ability to manage multiple complex cases independently

  • Proficiency in litigation procedures and legal technology tools
