Job Overview

A prominent law firm is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney to join its Chicago, IL office. This hybrid position is ideal for a litigation attorney with at least three years of experience who is looking to manage a broad range of civil litigation matters. The opportunity offers direct client contact, challenging legal work, and a collaborative team environment focused on sophisticated cases.

Duties

  • Handle civil litigation matters including commercial litigation, professional liability, product liability, insurance defense and coverage, construction defect, breach of contract, breach of warranty, torts, and personal injury.

  • Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.

  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support litigation strategies.

  • Take and defend depositions, appear in court, and assist in trial preparation.

  • Interact directly with clients and contribute to case strategy.

  • Work collaboratively within a team on multi-jurisdictional and complex cases.

  • Manage matters from intake through resolution or trial.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of civil litigation experience.

  • Background in one or more of the following areas: commercial litigation, insurance defense, class actions, professional liability, or labor & employment law (preferred).

  • Proven ability to manage cases independently and proactively.

  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication abilities to work within a team setting.

  • Must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Illinois.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in Illinois.
