A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a highly experienced Trusts and Estates Associate Attorney with a minimum of 6 years of law firm experience. The ideal candidate will have a background in estate planning, tax practice, or another transactional practice, with proficiency in high-net-worth estate and tax planning, estate and trust administration, and the drafting of wills and trust agreements.

Duties:

  • Manage and oversee high-net-worth estate and tax planning for clients.
  • Draft, review, and analyze wills, trust agreements, and other estate planning documents.
  • Provide legal advice on trust and estate administration matters.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop comprehensive estate plans tailored to their needs.
  • Conduct legal research on complex tax and estate planning issues.
  • Ensure precision and attention to detail in all drafting and writing tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and external parties.
  • Handle the administration of trusts and estates, including probate proceedings.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations affecting trusts and estates.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and professionals within the firm on complex matters.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years of law firm experience.
  • Background in estate planning, tax practice, or another transactional practice.
  • Superior academic credentials and active admission to the State Bar.
  • Experience in a large or mid-size law firm is preferred.
  • LLM in Taxation is a valuable asset.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • LLM in Taxation (preferred).

Certifications:

  • Active admission to the State Bar.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in high-net-worth estate and tax planning.
  • Excellent drafting, writing, and analytical skills.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
