Long Beach office of our client seeks a workers' compensation defense attorney with 1+ year of experience. The candidate will handle all aspects of defending workers' compensation claims for benefits including medical, disability, impairment, increased benefits under LC 132a, coverage, and employment defenses for clients including insurance companies, third party administrators, and employer representatives. Will handle all aspects of litigation, including discovery, depositions, trials, arbitrations, liens, and settlement negotiations and documents. Will be responsible for case evaluation and preparation; discovery; preparing for and attending hearings/depositions; reporting on hearing, depositions, and appearances; corresponding as needed; filing pleadings in response to applicants' claims filed; appearance at WCAB; preparing correspondence to clients regarding status and updates of active claims; performing legal research and analyzing cases; developing/recommending case strategy; developing a plan of action; writing briefs and pleadings; negotiating settlements; and administrative duties as they relate to the practice of law. Knowledge of workers' compensation law is required. Must be in good standing with the California Bar Association.
The candidate must have strong litigation, verbal, and writing skills. The ability to spot legal issues in other areas is required. The ability to manage caseload effectively is needed. Must be technologically adept.
