A leading law firm is seeking a Patent Associate with 1–4 years of law firm experience in patent prosecution. The ideal candidate will possess a technical background in life sciences and be registered with the USPTO. This role involves working closely with innovative clients in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. Location:

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications

  • Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and due diligence analyses

  • Provide strategic advice on patent portfolio development

  • Collaborate with inventors and scientific staff to identify patentable inventions

  • Prepare legal opinions and assist in client counseling related to IP strategy

  • Support transactions and litigation through IP-related due diligence

Requirements:

  • 1–4 years of experience in patent prosecution within a law firm setting

  • Demonstrated expertise in life sciences-related technologies

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D., M.S., or equivalent) required in one of the following:

    • Cell or Molecular Biology

    • Immunology

    • Biochemistry

    • Bioinformatics

    • Bioengineering

    • Organic Chemistry

    • Medicinal Chemistry

    • Cancer Biology

    • Pharmacology

    • Biophysics

    • Digital Health

Certifications:

  • Admission to a state bar in good standing

  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
