A law firm is seeking a Finance Associate Attorney for their Washington, DC office. The ideal candidate will have a combination of project finance and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) experience. Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is preferred but not required. This role involves managing complex finance transactions, providing legal advice on financial and M&A matters, and ensuring regulatory compliance throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle and execute a variety of finance-related legal matters, including project finance transactions, M&A deals, and structured finance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, loan agreements, acquisition agreements, and other financial documents.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel on financial structuring, regulatory issues, and risk management for both project finance and M&A transactions.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence and legal analysis to support transaction execution.
  • Collaborate with clients, internal teams, and external advisors to facilitate smooth transaction processes.
  • Oversee and manage the legal aspects of transactions from start to finish, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, legal developments, and regulatory changes related to finance and M&A.
  • Support senior attorneys on complex transactions and lead smaller deals independently.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Washington, DC, or eligibility for admission to the DC Bar.
  • 2+ years of experience in finance law, with significant exposure to project finance and M&A.
  • Experience working in a law firm setting is preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong understanding of finance law, including project finance, M&A, and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to handle complex transactions and provide effective legal advice.
