Job Overview: A law firm seeks a Senior Health Care Attorney with extensive experience to join its Providence practice. The successful candidate will provide strategic legal counsel on regulatory, compliance, and transactional matters within the health care sector, handling complex issues and guiding institutional and provider clients through evolving health care laws.

Location: Providence, Rhode Island

Duties:

  • Advise hospitals, health systems, and individual providers on federal and state health care regulations
  • Draft and negotiate contracts, including provider agreements, vendor contracts, and joint venture documents
  • Conduct compliance audits and develop internal policies and training programs
  • Represent clients in administrative proceedings and licensing matters before regulatory agencies
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments; prepare client alerts and white papers
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on transactional and corporate matters
  • Mentor junior attorneys and participate in business development initiatives

Requirements:

  • 16 years of post-JD experience with a focus on health care law
  • Active admission to practice in Rhode Island (or ability to admit promptly)
  • Demonstrated expertise in Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, HIPAA, and related statutes
  • Track record of managing high-stakes matters and guiding complex projects to completion
  • Exceptional analytical, drafting, and interpersonal skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active Rhode Island Bar admission

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of health care regulatory framework and compliance best practices
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation abilities
  • Proficiency with legal research platforms (Westlaw, LexisNexis)
  • Effective project management and leadership in cross-functional teams
  • Clear and persuasive oral and written communication
