Job Overview

A law firm seeks a VA Attorney in Troy, MI, to represent veterans in their pursuit of disability benefits before the VA. This role involves guiding clients through all levels of the VA disability process, from initial applications to appeals, while managing a caseload of hearings. Duties

• Represent veterans in VA disability claims and appeals.
• Assist clients at all levels of the VA disability process.
• Build and maintain strong attorney-client relationships.
• Conduct regular communication with clients and stakeholders.
• Manage a steady caseload of hearings with integrity and compassion.
• Contact and evaluate prospective clients for viable cases.
• Support department and firm goals through effective communication.
• Maintain focus on deadlines and complete tasks timely.
• Report case developments to a partner attorney.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• VA Accreditation preferred; must obtain post-hire if not already accredited.
• Licensed to practice law and in good standing with the State Bar.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience advocating for veterans or handling VA claims.
• Experience within the veteran community is highly preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• VA Accreditation preferred.
• Must have or obtain a PIV card within 30-60 days.
