Job Title: Litigation Special Counsel

Job Location: Orlando, FL

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking experienced attorneys to join its Litigation Department as Special Counsel. This role is designed for skilled legal professionals with 2-5 years of litigation experience, specifically within the construction and related sectors. Candidates will support a busy practice focused on arbitration, insurance claims, construction defect litigation, and design disputes. While this is a full-time, non-partner-track role, it offers the opportunity to work independently and take on complex matters in a collaborative environment.

Duties:

  • Handle a significant caseload with a focus on arbitration, mediation, and litigation within the construction and insurance sectors.
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and other necessary documents.
  • Manage discovery processes, including depositions and evidence preparation.
  • Represent clients in hearings, depositions, and arbitrations.
  • Provide support in managing and mentoring paralegals and support staff.
  • Effectively manage time and resources to meet case deadlines and firm expectations.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and settlement options.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation to ensure compliance with legal standards and firm practices.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in litigation, with a focus on construction, insurance, or design defect claims.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage a heavy caseload.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Experience with arbitration and mediation is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience managing or supervising legal support staff is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active and good standing membership with the Florida Bar.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Florida Bar is required.

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal research and writing capabilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Skilled in handling depositions, motions, and hearings.
  • Experience with insurance claims and construction litigation is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to independently manage cases and meet deadlines.
