East Lansing office of our client seeks insurance defense associate attorney with 3-5 years of experience in litigation including depositions, motion practice, and trial work. The candidate litigates cases. Preferably handles depositions and court appearances. Uses litigation practices/protocols to develop and revise appropriate legal strategy for discovery, investigation, handling and hearing of cases or matters; advises, communicates and develops those strategies along with insurance adjustors and clients as appropriate. Conducts necessary and appropriate discovery, hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations and similar proceedings. Researches the law applicable to cases or matters. Drafts legal documents, pleadings, motions, briefs and opinions as required. Should have significant experience in taking and producing witnesses for deposition, dispositive motion preparation and argument, retention and production of experts and negotiations. Completion of law school with LL.B. is essential. Must be admitted to practice in MI. General knowledge of insurance law, medical malpractice, first party no-fault insurance personal injury protection (PIP) benefits are essential. Proficiency in legal research utilizing Westlaw, Internet and other sources is needed. Should have 3 years of experience in insurance coverage (defense or plaintiff). Strong experience with motion practice, discovery dispute, conducting depositions, making court experiences and trial preparation is essential.

The candidate should be bright, enthusiastic, comfortable communicating with clients, possess the ability to manage a caseload and work well with a team of attorneys to ensure the best outcome for the clients. Must have excellent writing and research skills. Should have JD degree. Excellent oral advocacy and written communication skills are needed.
