San Jose office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks an associate attorney preferably with some experience working as an attorney, counsel, or lawyer at a law firm. The candidate will serve law clients and support partners and staff attorneys, plan and develop cases, research case law, prepare and manage cases, and help clients. Will plan case development by studying client information and conferring with partners and staff attorneys. Research law by determining research approaches. Study laws, statutes, constitutions, regulations, court opinions, including precedents and reasoning, and trends using standard print texts and computers. Develop case strategy by predicting how law applies to the client's situation; identify and evaluate legal options; prepare briefs and memoranda, including legal issues raised by the client's situation, legal rules governing the situation, and how the rules apply to the situation; provide explanations of legal strategies and potential actions; and obtain approval for a course of action. Prepare cases by gathering evidence; attend depositions, court hearing, conference calls, and client meetings; review investigative findings; consult with experts; engage expert witnesses; prepare and interview witnesses; complete discovery process; develop arguments and testimony; complete filings, motions, and submissions; and supervise paralegals. Manage cases by monitoring schedules; expediting requirements; and obtaining and forwarding information. Support attorneys at trials and hearings by organizing evidence and exhibits; taking notes; scheduling witnesses; and ensuring that witnesses arrive as scheduled. Help clients by initiating and maintaining contact; prepare clients to answer discovery; and keep clients informed of case status. Obtain and retain clients by following up on referrals. Maintain cost standards by monitoring expenses; and recommending cost-saving opportunities. Improve quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; and implementing changes. Update job knowledge by participating in continuing educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations. Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Korean language skills are a plus.
