Family Law Attorney

Upper Marlboro office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks a family law attorney with 1-2 years of experience at a legal firm working on family law and real estate issues (determining marital property). The candidate will represent clients in court proceedings as needed. Will handle the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings as required. Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current. Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation, and forming a strategy for a plan of action. Draft pleadings, motions, contracts, marital settlement agreements, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases. Develop a strategic approach and provide leadership and direction to paralegals and legal assistants. Manage full case-handling responsibilities from inception through resolution. Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on issues relating to ongoing or potential cases. Draft and review initial pleadings, motions, briefs, and other pleadings. Appear in Court to represent clients. Prepare clients and cases for trial. Interact with clients and work with experts. Cultivate relationships with the firm's existing and future clients. Must be a Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association). Must be a current member of the Maryland or DC Bar. Should be equally familiar with prenuptial agreements, divorce, alimony, child support, and real estate, and be able to effectively engage in oral debate and negotiation even in highly stressful and emotional situations. Must have a strong knowledge base of representing plaintiffs and defendants. Previous criminal justice or other legal background preferred. Must be Licensed to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Should have 3 years of family law litigation experience (This is non-negotiable). Must be familiar with Google Drive and G-Suite products. Criminal and/or Personal Injury law experience is highly desired. MyCase (case management system) experience is highly desired.

The candidate should have an Undergraduate degree with a legal background and a Juris Doctor degree. Must have excellent writing and oral communication skills.
