Job Title: Real Estate Counsel

Job Overview:

A respected and globally active law firm based in Austin, TX is seeking a seasoned attorney to join its Real Estate group. This role focuses on supporting sophisticated property development work, particularly in the rapidly growing renewable energy sector. The position is ideal for a legal professional who thrives on complex transactions, has deep experience in title and site control matters, and enjoys contributing to innovative infrastructure and sustainability projects. Duties:

  • Advise clients on real property transactions including acquisitions, leasing, and title matters

  • Draft, negotiate, and review transactional real estate documents such as purchase and sale agreements, letters of intent, and access agreements

  • Provide guidance on-site control for large-scale renewable energy projects

  • Collaborate with surveyors and title companies to resolve issues and secure favorable coverage

  • Address and cure title defects through negotiation of legal instruments and curative documentation

  • Interpret title commitments and prepare closing instruction letters

  • Offer legal support throughout project life cycles from acquisition through development

  • Work closely with internal teams and clients to ensure smooth execution of property-related components of infrastructure projects

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of substantive experience in real estate law, preferably with a focus on commercial or energy-related transactions

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple complex matters

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients and cross-functional teams

  • Proven experience with title insurance, surveys, and related documentation

  • Excellent analytical, writing, and organizational abilities

  • Must be admitted to practice in Texas

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active and good-standing member of the Texas State Bar

Skills:

  • Expertise in title review and curative title work

  • Familiarity with renewable energy project development and site control strategies

  • Precision in legal drafting and negotiation

  • Adept at managing relationships with title insurers, developers, and third-party vendors

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality client service

  • Collaborative team player with the ability to lead and support project execution
