Indianapolis office of our client seeks patent agent with 5 years of experience. The candidate will prosecute the patent applications in the U.S. and direct foreign patent prosecution and act as a liaison with the client, on life science matters including recombinant gene technology in the crop science and pharmaceutical industries. Will provide technical expertise in recombinant cell technology, such as molecular cloning, antibody genetic crossing, microscopy, plasmid construction, protein purification, bioinformatics, and cell cultures. File applications, liaise with clients regarding the domestic and foreign patent application process. Manage patent practices, including patent applications, preparation, prosecution. Communicate with clients to ensure applications are filed on time and deadlines are met. Perform due diligence and research all related patents to determine if there are any obstacles in securing a patent or practicing technology. Manage the patent application process and communicate with the USPTO as requested. Conduct and participate in client meetings regarding patent research and application processes. Identify and review ongoing issues that might affect the patent process. Manage the patent docket and communicate dates and deadlines with attorneys and clients. Ph.D. in life sciences or related field is required. Registration with the USPTO is required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills is needed. Ability to juggle multiple priorities and manage multiple clients is essential.
