Los Angeles office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks staff attorney manager with experience. The candidate will help to shape the staff attorney framework, advising on efficiency gains and process improvement to the program, where appropriate. Will ensure the timely launch of the program, work with the Head of Alternative Delivery Solutions and Partner lead to resolve any challenges and delays, report on progress, and help to drive the launch forward on time and within budget. Works to make recommendations for continuous enhancement and improvement of the staff attorney program once implemented, conducting period reviews and preparing reports for the Partner and Business Services Leads. Assist with interviews and conflict checks as appropriate and necessary. Collaborate with the Learning and Professional Development team and Business Unit leadership to develop the training program for staff attorneys/suggest program ideas for training curriculums to promote continuous learning. Working with the Practice Area Leads to identify integration opportunities, social or otherwise, for the staff attorneys as appropriate. Working in a practice area leads to ensuring staff attorneys are fully utilized and that the staff attorneys are highly productive. Monitor staff attorney utilization cross-office and work with the Practice Area leads to ensure that workloads are balanced across the program, staff attorneys are fully utilized, and have consistent experiences across the practice. Work with practice area leads to ensure staff attorneys are properly trained and supervised. Monitor and raise potential developmental concerns to the Director of Attorney Talent and the PGLs/PALs, as applicable. Develop relationships and build trust with staff attorneys. Regularly meet with the staff attorneys in the practice to assess their interests, what support they need, and their levels of engagement. Facilitate and assist in integrating a feedback culture, including ensuring compliance with HL Dialogue milestones. Create relevant prompts to encourage the giving and requesting of real-time feedback in connection with work and matters assigned; Work with and coach staff attorneys on implementing feedback received and provide guidance on and support the advancement process. Project and Knowledge Management Working with the National Staffing Model leads to creating and maintaining skills matrices for the staff attorneys to facilitate increased utilization for staff attorneys; Work with the Staff Attorney Program administrator to existing capacity reports. Maintaining matter information to assist with the ongoing project and knowledge management. Work with the Finance and LPM teams to understand matter profitability and matter management reporting. Work with partners to create teams that are more efficient. Work with attorneys to meet the firms Pro Bono and Responsible Business goals. Must preferably have equivalent legal staffing/workforce planning/attorney development experience in another legal or professional services environment. Should have an understanding of litigation lifecycle to support work allocation as needed. Must have an understanding of the business of law and basic law firm finances. Should have computer proficiency with knowledge and understanding of various database systems including Microsoft Office Suite programs.

The candidate should have the ability to develop and forge positive and collaborative working relationships at all levels. Must have the ability to effectively manage projects and tasks including demonstrating delegation and organizational skills. Should have the ability to demonstrate effective creative problem solving and people management skills including coaching and mentoring. Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with diplomacy, provide information, and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of attorneys and administrators. Exhibits a high degree of initiative, critical-thinking skills, and the ability to work proactively and independently. Solution-oriented with strong project management skills and the ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment. Demonstrates resilience after debate and the ability to project a united front with firm management.
