Job Overview:
A boutique family law firm based in Knoxville, Tennessee is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and high-asset divorce and custody cases. The ideal candidate will bring at least two years of experience in family law, a strong command of Tennessee statutes and court procedures, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced litigation environment. Relocation to Knoxville is required.

Location:

  • Knoxville, Tennessee

Duties:

  • Meet with clients to assess case details and develop litigation strategy

  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and court orders related to divorce, child custody, adoption, and termination matters

  • Apply Tennessee family law, including local court rules, statutes, and evidentiary procedures

  • Attend court hearings and advocate on behalf of clients

  • Collaborate with and delegate tasks to assigned legal support staff

  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of case files and client interactions

  • Manage a fast-paced caseload while ensuring timely and quality work product

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience practicing family law

  • Familiarity with domestic litigation including divorce, custody, and adoption cases

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines with a high level of organization

  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients and staff

  • Commitment to excellence and a proactive approach to client advocacy

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Tennessee

Skills:

  • Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills

  • In-depth knowledge of Tennessee family law, civil procedure, and evidence

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and delegation abilities

  • Ability to maintain professionalism in high-conflict and emotionally charged situations
