Kansas City office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks patent agent/scientist (chemistry) with experience. The candidate will be responsible for assisting in drafting and globally prosecuting patent applications in the field of chemical sciences requiring a working knowledge of organic chemistry, physical chemistry, and materials science. Will be assisting with drafting and prosecuting patent applications in chemistry and chemical engineering fields. Coordinate and correspond with foreign law firms and associates to file foreign patent applications. Maintain client portfolio and provide the client with estimates of costs for future filings and maintenance. Coordinate and review results of patentability, landscape, and freedom-to-operate searches Assist in the Firm.s standardized procedures to enhance malpractice prevention. Prepare and send notices to clients regarding upcoming deadlines. Correspond with foreign law firms regarding filings, deadlines, and billings. Anticipate supervising partner or client needs for specific projects. Delegate effectively and as appropriate with Paralegals or Legal Administrative Assistants. Design, recommend, and implement new processes and procedures to increase group efficiency. Special projects, as needed. Meet billable hour requirement of 1750 per year. Performs other duties as assigned. A Bachelors degree, higher degree, or equivalent in chemistry or chemical engineering or related degree and/or work experience are encouraged to apply. Must have S. Patent and Trademark Office registration (or ability to qualify). Exceptional writing, analytical, and communication skills are essential. The law firm or in-house IP experience is preferred.
