Job Overview:

A well-established law firm in Auburn, California, is seeking a dedicated Estate Planning Attorney to join their team. The role involves meeting with clients to provide consultations, analyzing estate plans, and preparing legal documents that meet client needs. The position requires being in the office five days a week, alternating between the Sacramento and Auburn offices as needed. This opportunity offers the chance to work directly with clients to develop customized estate planning strategies while collaborating with the legal team.

Location:

  • Auburn, California

Duties:

  • Conduct consultations with prospective and returning clients to gather necessary information for estate planning.
  • Provide estate planning recommendations based on client needs and financial goals.
  • Draft, review, and finalize estate planning documents ensuring they align with client objectives.
  • Engage clients in the process, including discussing fees, signing engagement agreements, and collecting payments.
  • Manage client intake, follow-up, and review processes, including interim meetings when necessary.
  • Utilize task management systems such as Lawcus and Asana to complete tasks and respond to client correspondence.
  • Review estate plans with clients, explain the design and benefits, and address any concerns.
  • Collaborate with affiliated financial advisors when appropriate, securing consent forms as needed.
  • Maintain detailed notes of all meetings, phone calls, and communications within client files.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, attorney meetings, and estate planning department meetings.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills, including oral, written, and interpersonal.
  • Proficiency in task management systems and client communication.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to manage client relationships and provide high-level estate planning services.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in California.
  • Certified Specialist in Trust, Wills, and Probate is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Active California State Bar license.
  • Notary Public preferred.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of estate planning laws, including income, gift, and estate tax laws.
  • Expertise in estate planning, wills, trusts, and probate.
  • Proficiency in reviewing and drafting legal documents.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and legal projects efficiently.
  • Prior experience (1-3 years) in estate planning law is required; advanced planning experience is a plus.
