Bloomfield Hills office of our client, a Chambers ranked law firm, is actively seeking associates to join our Estate and Succession Planning and Corporate Group. The candidate will represent clients in all areas of tax law including income tax, tax credits and deductions, state and local taxes and capital gains taxes. Will advise current clients with tax implications of corporate transactions such as mergers and acquisitions deals, banking deals, capital transactions while establishing new clients. Research and analyze federal and state laws while evaluating and assessing complicated tax issues for clients. Support corporate clients in tax compliance and program management. Should have a portable book of business. Must have 5-7 years of experience providing legal representation in taxation. Should be knowledgeable about the intricacies of federal, state and local tax law and regulations. An LL.M. degree in taxation and/or CPA license is preferred. Significant experience in Corporate and Tax related matters including income tax, tax credits and deductions, state and local taxes and capital gains taxes is essential. Must have experience in tax matters including corporate mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures; partnerships, LLCs and joint ventures; private equity and private equity fund formation; real estate, real estate fund formation and real estate investment trusts; regulated investment companies; non-profit and financing and capital markets transactions. Knowledge and experience with international taxation is preferred. Must be admitted to a State Bar in the United States (preferably Michigan).

The candidate should have excellent research and writing skills. Organizational and project management skills are needed. Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) are essential. Must have sound judgment. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be a graduate of an accredited law school.
