Job Overview:
A dynamic and expanding law firm is seeking a Senior Estate Planning Attorney to join its Irvine, California office. This full-time position is designed for an experienced professional with a deep understanding of complex estate and trust planning, high-net-worth client advisement, and asset protection strategies. The ideal candidate will be a proactive legal strategist with the ability to manage matters independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. A portable book of business is preferred but not required.

Location:

  • Irvine, California

Duties:

  • Manage all phases of estate planning and trust administration

  • Conduct client intake and provide ongoing relationship management

  • Draft, review, and revise estate planning documents (trusts, wills, POAs, advanced directives, funding docs)

  • Advise high-net-worth clients on wealth transfer and asset protection strategies

  • Implement estate, income, and risk mitigation strategies

  • Interpret laws related to Proposition 13 and real property transfers

  • Prepare technical memoranda on estate and tax-related issues

  • Oversee complex estate matters in consultation with estate planning team

  • Conduct legal research, provide risk assessments, and propose action plans

  • Supervise and review work product of paralegals and legal assistants

  • Attend court appearances as needed (preferred)

  • Evaluate potential fraudulent transfers and voidable transactions

  • Assist with corporate legal matters when applicable

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in estate planning and trust administration

  • Proven track record handling complex estate planning and high-net-worth client matters

  • Ability to manage legal staff and collaborate with attorneys across disciplines

  • Corporate law experience is a plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active member of the California State Bar (required)

Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of estate and tax planning laws and strategies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)

  • Strong legal writing, drafting, and research skills

  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational capabilities

  • Effective communicator with excellent client service skills

  • Foreign language skills a plus
