Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm seeks a Senior Real Estate Associate or Special Counsel with at least 6 years of experience to join its expanding Real Estate Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in representing lenders in commercial real estate transactions, particularly in construction loans. The position requires a focus on lender-side matters, with at least 60% of the workload dedicated to this area. Duties:

  • Represent lenders in commercial real estate transactions, focusing heavily on loan agreements, mortgage financing, and related matters.
  • Advise clients on all aspects of real estate finance, particularly for construction and development projects.
  • Manage and close complex real estate transactions, collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
  • Review and negotiate loan documents and related agreements, ensuring compliance with legal standards and client objectives.
  • Draft and review documents related to real estate lending, including term sheets, credit agreements, and security agreements.
  • Provide strategic advice on risk management, deal structuring, and regulatory matters.
  • Supervise junior attorneys and legal staff, offering mentorship and professional development guidance.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and long-term business development.

Requirements:

  • At least 6 years of law firm experience, specializing in real estate finance with a focus on lender-side matters.
  • Significant experience with commercial real estate loans, particularly construction loans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex information to clients and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex transactions from start to finish, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong academic background with a history of exceptional performance in prior roles.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment while managing individual caseloads effectively.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in good standing in New York or ability to obtain Bar membership upon hire.

Skills:

  • Expertise in commercial real estate finance, especially construction loan transactions.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant real estate laws and regulations.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage complex deals.
  • Proficiency with legal research, contract analysis, and document drafting.
  • Excellent client relationship management and business development skills.
  • Ability to mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys and staff.
