The role involves sophisticated legal work representing a range of financial entities and private investment clients in complex commercial transactions with a particular focus on high-value movable assets such as transportation equipment. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with a solid foundation in commercial finance who is looking to deepen their expertise in a collaborative, fast-paced legal environment.

Duties

  • Handle all aspects of equipment finance transactions, including structuring, drafting, and negotiating agreements.

  • Represent lenders, borrowers, lessors, lessees, and investment entities in a wide array of secured lending arrangements.

  • Advise clients on transactions involving asset-backed loans, leases, credit facilities, and asset purchases or sales.

  • Provide counsel on deals centered around transportation-related assets, including aircraft and rail equipment.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across various practice groups to deliver comprehensive client service on multi-disciplinary matters.

  • Monitor market developments in finance and transportation sectors relevant to client needs.

Requirements

  • Significant experience with transactional matters, particularly in finance, leasing, or corporate law.

  • Familiarity with equipment finance transactions is preferred, but not mandatory.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex deals independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a client-first mindset.

  • Proven track record of academic excellence and legal acumen.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or international equivalent from an accredited institution.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

  • Admission to the North Carolina State Bar is preferred or eligibility to waived.

Skills

  • Proficiency in contract drafting and negotiation.

  • Deep understanding of Article 9 of the UCC and other secured transaction principles.

  • Ability to balance multiple deals and deadlines with keen attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal abilities and capacity for strategic thinking.

  • Adaptability in responding to client needs and legal developments.
